The final element in the study programme is the writing of a project combining various elements from the programme. It comprises selection of a theme for the project (often a selected problem in a company), designing a data collection (i.e. through some interviews), writing up the analysis in clear language and drawing the conclusions of the analysis. The project work may be done of up to three students together. (Note that: students with a degree as ’serviceøkonom’ cannot make their bachelor project in the same company as used for their project in the serviceøkonom programme – except with special permission). The student must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the academic areas as well as useful theories and methods learned throughout the programme which are relevant for the project. Moreover, the student must demonstrate the ability to structure clearly the bachelor project, both contextually and linguistically. Finally, the student’s linguistic abilities may be included in the evaluation of the project.

The project should be written alone or in a group of maximum 3 students and its size should be:
1 student: max. 40 standard pages
2 students: max. 60 standard pages
3 students: max. 80 standard pages
All the projects should include a table of contents and a summary, which are part of the final evaluation. Assessment. The assessment is based on a combined evaluation of the written work and the individual’s performance at the oral defence.

Make-up examinations are given as an individual oral exam based on the group project. Re-take examinations are given as an individual oral exam based on the group project handed in for the regular examination, as well as a supplementary piece, max. 5 standard pages in length.

The examination must be passed.

Teaching methods
Introduction and Project advising
The Third Year Project group itself is responsible for contacting the assigned Project Adviser, producing a good report, and for using the Project Adviser as constructively as possible. The Adviser is available in order to help the group with its research issue (including the initial formulation) as well as the development of an appropriate research methodology. The Adviser, furthermore, functions as primary examiner at the oral defence.
Further Information

The Study Board publishes a Project Guidelines each year, which supplements the Program Regulations and serves as a teaching aid for the Project. The Manual provides detailed information about Project requirements and deadlines, as well as practical suggestions and advice regarding the Project experience and proper use of a Project Adviser. The Project Guidelines will be available at the BSc SEM e-campus (in the menu under Exam > Exam guidelines)
