The learning objectives to achieve within English for Business Purposes are:

Prerequisite
The course is open to intermediate level (minimum B1) non-native speakers of English.
This course starts at the B1 level on the Common European Framework of Reference and works toward achievement at the B2 level.

Duration 4 Hours
Closed book exam: computer (Word) with print. The examination will comprise one detailed grammar question, two textual analyses and a case study. The two textual analyses will focus on text comprehension and the ability to summarise and critique. The case study will be a summary of a business problem with recommendations presented as a business report. Special attention will be paid to coherence, clarity of thought, a clearly structured presentation and strong argumentation.

Course content
This course is designed to develop both oral and written English skills. Students will work on developing a broader vocabulary base and strengthening their business language skills to function more efficiently in English, both academically and in the workplace.
Teaching methods
Seminar style teaching with interactive class discussions and peer critique. There will be case study presentations which will allow students to practise their oral skills and develop the necessary competence for dialogues in an English business environment.
