In addition, the student(s) has(have) to collectively author a response letter to the examiners explaining how their criticism was addressed.
Course content and structure
The 2nd Year Project is the second major independent work in the BA(im) programme consisting of an Executive Summary and the actual 2nd Year Project report (see above for additional rules for the size of the written product). Emphasis is on learning to perform at a more advanced level of interdisciplinarity. In more detail, this is to be accomplished by integrating thematic, conceptual and methodological approaches, by formulating, delimiting and analysing a problem and research questions, and, finally, by critically reflecting on and evaluating the choices made during the project.

The project work will be accompanied by a series of workshops introducing key concepts and practices of qualitative research in a hands-on manner. The workshops are designed to guide through the whole research process from research question and data collection to data analysis and project report. These workshops are to be seen as a continuation of the course Interdisciplinary Research Methods II (BA-IRM2).

(BA-IRM2 will be examined as part of the oral defence of the 2nd Year Project. Completing BA-IRM2 is, therefore, a requirement for registering for the 2nd Year Project examination. For further information on how to complete BA-IRM2, please, see the relevant course description.)
Teaching methods
Based on the principles of student-centred learning, the learning methods applied in the workshops, accompanying the work for the 2nd Year Project, will focus extensively on practical exercises and hands-on activities enriched by interactive lectures, group and class discussions as well as student presentations.
Further Information
This course description applies ONLY to students who enrolled in autumn 2012 or earlier.
