Learning objectives
At the end of the course, the student must be able to:
• Identify key societal and environmental issues that will challenge today and tomorrow business models. Understand how these issues challenge current business models.
• Define key question YOU will face as future managers in relation to new social and environmental challenges. Learn from current best practices.
• Systematize your thinking by applying the concepts, theories, methods, and models that will help you to address these issues.

This course works to develop the reflexive capabilities of students, working to help develop the students’ 1) connective thinking 2) critical thinking and 3) awareness utilizing the topics associated with Corporate Social Responsibility as the basis.
Course prerequisites
No special requirements. The course does not assume the student has any prior knowledge in corporate social responsibility.

If the number of registered candidates for the make-up examination/re-take examination warrants that it may most appropriately be held as an oral examination, the programme office will inform the students that the make-up examination/re-take examination will be held as an oral examination instead.
Course content and structure

This is primarily a discussion based course, where ‘real life’ case studies are posed to students on complex topics (climate change, labor exploitation, health security) in which students engage first hand in the discussion and debate that they will undoubtedly face as future managers in business.

As a future manager you will be faced with questions such: is my business model ready to deal with pandemics (such obesity, diabetes 2, HIV-AIDS) that will affect many of my employees and customers? What is my responsibility in the problem? We will explore how Scsr is becoming both a condition for business and a potential competitive advantage.

Scsr challenges most of the current business theories. Our course will include the explanation and de-construction of some of the current strategic management theories together with some theories central to the new political view of business in society.

Teaching methods
In this course we are exploring questions mainly through cases and discussion. Therefore your active participation and engagement throughout this course is necessary. We do expect a lively debate in the classroom and learning by confrontation.
