Learning objectives
El objetivo del curso es desarrollar las capacidades de los estudiantes para entender y estudiar/analizar el entorno empresarial en la región indicada. Les proporcionará perspectivas teóricas y conceptos para analizar las dinámicas institucionales en la región hispanoamericana, herramientas que también se podrán aplicar a otras regiones. El curso también tiene como objetivo desarrollar la competencia comunicativa oral de los estudiantes y darles una oportunidad para practicar su español mediante, su participación activa en las clases y los métodos didácticos basados en el diálogo entre profesor y estudiantes.

The exam in the subject consists of two parts:

In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and the individual oral performance.

This course has only one exam, and it consists of two part: 50 % language and 50 % content.
This grade is given for the students' language skills.

Description of the exam procedure
The students will write a one page synopsis in Spanish that serves as the launch pad for a discussion in Spanish of the course literature. The examination will take 30 minutes (evaluation included). Students receive one grade that is determined by the content of his/her performance at the exam, and another that reflects his/her communicative skills in Spanish.

Course content and structure

El curso analizará cómo determinados contextos institucionales influyen el entorno empresarial en las regiones hispanohablantes, con énfasis especial en América Latina. El marco teórico del curso parte del contexto contemporáneo de reformas de mercado, globalización e integración económica; las redes, el corporatismo y neocorporatismo. También leeremos textos específicos sobre el papel de las empresas en la coyuntura actual de cambio económico y social en América Latina. En términos empíricos el curso enfocará las oportunidades y retos que hoy presenta el contexto institutional en varios países (México, Centroamérica y Suramérica).

Teaching methods
El curso se desarrollará mediante una combinación de exposiciones orales de los profesores y estudiantes. Se busca desarrollar la capacidad de los estudiantes para analizar y conceptualizar temas empíricos y teóricos basados en la literatura leída. Se usarán casos de manera selectiva para ilustrar dinámicas institucionales relevantes, y se señalarán puntos de resonancia temática que permitirán a los estudiantes vincular los temas tratados con los de su especialización principal.
