Learning objectives |
To achieve the grade 12, students
should meet the following learning objectives with no or only minor
mistakes or errors:
- Identify and apply key theories, models and concepts within
strategic investment and finance
- Define, explain and give examples of the various methods
applied for different types of investments, including the
limitations of methods
- Analyze and build-up investment cases using relevant concepts
and theories of strategic investment and finance
- Assess the value of investment alternatives, including
understanding assumptions and their influence
- Formulate and justify relevant research questions relating to
strategic investment and finance applying theories and concepts
from the curriculum

Oral exam based on written product
In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product
must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The
grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and
the individual oral performance. |

Another examination form
Re-exam when the ordinary exam is
failed, is an individual oral exam (20 minutes per student) based
upon the same group report with a 3-page supplement.
Make-up exam for students who participated in writing the group
report but were ill at the oral exam is an individual oral exam (20
minutes per student) based on the same group report.
Make-up exam for students when ill during writing the report is an
individual oral exam (20 minutes per student) based on an
individual written report on max. 5
pages.

Course content and
structure |
An overall focus of the course is the net present value of the
company's strategic decisions and how to optimize shareholder
value while taking into account stakeholder and external
perspectives at the same time.
|
The student will acquire competencies in actively building up
investment cases, analyzing investment cases and understanding how
strategic investment and finance requires cross-functional
knowledge and collaboration with e.g. marketing, production,
research and development.

The focus is thus on real strategic investments in
business
|
Key topics covered are:

Value of money and cash flow spread over time and net present
value of future cash flows
|
Building up cash flows for an investment case
|
Evaluating investment alternatives by using relevant
methods
|
Understanding the relationship between risk and
return
|
Understanding uncertainty in investments. Understanding how
strategic perspectives are used in investment analysis through real
options analysis and scenario planning.

Understanding global and international perspectives in strategic
investment and finance.
