Description of the exam procedure

The students will give a brief presentation of the synopsis followed by a more thorough discussion of the synopsis within the chosen topic. Hereafter the discussion will expland to include other parts of the syllabus.

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

The purpose of this course is to give the student a profound understanding of regulatory issues concerning privacy and data protection. Compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation is in focus as well as its background, context, and content.

 

This course provides an introduction to fundamental legal principles with particular focus on the European Union.

 

The discussions may include aspects relating to privacy, big data, particular technologies, use of personal data for marketing purposes, transfer of personal data, security, and fundamental rights such as the freedom of expression.

 

The course will to a large extent be based on sources of law such as the EU treaties, directives, regulations, and case law.

Description of the teaching methods
The course consists of 10x3 lectures in which exercises/workshops are included.
Feedback during the teaching period
Workshops and group discussions are an essential part of the learning process, hence active participation is expected. The students will prepare, discuss and present cases in groups. Oral feedback is provided to the student.
