Course content and structure

Some organizations struggle to make the smallest changes to their IT portfolio; projects constantly exceed deadlines and budgets. Other organizations gain huge competitive edges with strategic use of IT and through mastery of software development - they even find it fun. In this course we will introduce advanced theories about design, development and management of IT based systems and applications in an organizational context. The overall question raised in the course is: How can an organizations gain a competitive edge in implementing,

developing and using IT?

The course content will mix and integrate the three different Cand.merc.(it.) IMBE profiles.

Managing the IT resource

Human Computer Interaction (HCI)

Information System Development

Teaching methods
The main teaching methods are lectures and discussions in class.
During class time the students work with cases to apply the theory. To facilitate the learning process and to
inspire the students, representatives from industry who work in relevant areas will present their ideas. Also
researchers from the department will present their research.
