Course content and structure
This course has two main threads—understanding leadership theory and research, and putting understanding into best communication practices and processes. First, we discuss leadership from a communication perspective, integrating research and practice. We explicate contemporary theories and research support. Second, we link these theories and recommended strategies for effective leader performance to students’ own leadership development. We use case studies, conflict and negotiation exercises and simulations, and other educational materials to provide practice in leadership styles and strategies. We use cross-cultural business research where applicable.
