Learning objectives
To achieve the grade 12, students should meet the following learning objectives with no or only minor mistakes or errors: After completing the course, students should be able to demonstrate:
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the issues, institutions, and actors involved in the topic in question,
  • knowledge and understanding of theories and concepts that are relevant to analysis of the issue,
  • ability to link the theories to the empirical material in a methodologically reflexive manner.

Examination form Oral exam based on written product

In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and the individual oral performance.

Individual oral exam based on group assignment (max. 3 standard pages), 3-4 students per group. Overall assessment of assignment and oral performance.

Re-take if ordinary exam is failed: Individual oral exam (20 minutes) based on individual revision of original assignment.

Make-up if ill at oral exam: individual oral exam (20 minutes) based on same assignment in August.
Course content and structure
The course focuses on a specialized topic in international political economy (for example but not limited to the politics of business standards, political risk, the politics of international finance, global growth strategies, or the management of international organizations). The course covers theories that are relevant to the analysis of the topic and empirical material.

The topic is decided by the Study Board and announced by the Board by the end of October. The topic can change from year to year and the Board can offer more than one topic in a year.
