Learning objectives
To achieve the grade 12, students should meet the following learning objectives with no or only minor mistakes or errors:
  • Apply theories and concepts from the course that explain the strategic as well as organizational roles of HRM and PM.
  • Analyze the dynamics of HRM strategy, HR and PM practices with respect to external and internal influences as well as major change efforts.
  • Critically reflect on and assess the value and relevance of HRM and PM designs in specific organizational settings.
  • Evaluate the relevance and usefulness of HRM and PM models and theories from the course for analyzing and resolving strategic and organizational issues and challenges.
  • Demonstrate how PM, HRM and the organizational context are inevitable linked in the provision of incentives and the creation of value creation in organizations.

In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and the individual oral performance.

Course content and structure

This course takes a strategic view on human resource management and performance management. A more thorough explanation of the course may be added at a future point.

Teaching methods
The course has diverse teaching methods using lectures, cases, readings, and discussions. The class meetings are interactive and require ongoing engagement of the students.
