Learning objectives |
To achieve the grade 12, students should meet the
following learning objectives with no or only minor mistakes or
errors: The student must be able to:
- Assess and adapt his/her language to the recipient and the
rhetorical situation;
- Express him-/herself in clear, concise and correct English
while using relevant professional terms and observing pragmatic and
linguistic norms;
- Ensure that the case presentation appears relevant and coherent
throughout;
- Engage in a detailed professional dialogue;
- Adapt to the cultural context and interact in a manner relevant
to the communication situation

Description of the exam
procedure
Oral presentation and interaction regarding a communication
situation based on case chosen by the students individually. Each
student will hand in a synopsis of one (1) standard page on a theme
of their own choice, relating to the course contents. In the
synopsis, the students must account for their choices of theory and
data. The synopsis must be handed in no later than two weeks prior
to the oral examination date.
Students may use electronic presentation devices and bring cue
cards for the oral exam.

Course content and structure |
The course is taught in English and the exam is conducted in
English. The student must further develop his/her skills in
adequate intercultural communication in different situations. The
course will include practicing oral communication scenarios in
English as they appear in typical corporate/organizational
contexts, i.e. reception of delegations, participation in
meetings/conferences, company presentations, project presentations
etc. Case work and roleplay will be part of the course. When
preparing cases in class and for the exam, students are expected to
draw on knowledge acquired in previous semesters and to
independently provide other necessary information.

Teaching methods |
Teaching methods may vary, depending on the task
at hand. The may include presentations by lecturer and students,
tutorials, oral assignments - individual or in groups. In the first
half of the semester, students must participate in a mandatory
conference and hand in one (1) mandatory assignment in connection
with the conference. |
