Learning objectives |
To achieve the grade 12, students should meet the
following learning objectives with no or only minor mistakes or
errors: The student must be able to :
- Give a summary of the contents of an oral source (video or
semi-oral text). Examples could be extracts freom TV programmes,
video clips with politicians and business leaders and texts in new
media. The student must be able to assess the level of
professionalism and approach to important business- and society
issues in the text or video.
- Analyse and explain the content of videos/semi-oral texts on
general business issues or EU matters and relate content to society
or business in general
- Analyse and explain communication and dialogues between laymen
and semi-experts using relevant knowledge of the rhetorical
situation and pragmatics
- Use relevant professional vocabulary suited for the specific
communication situation.

Description of the exam
procedure
Individual oral exam based on an unknown video or a text
written in semi-oral English. (Maximum duration of video clip is 10
minutes) The student must give a summary of the video/semi-oral
text in English and be able to discuss the content and answer
questions relevant to the course
curriculum.

Course content and structure |
The course is taught in English only and the exam is conducted
in English.
The course relates to the 1st semester course Sprog,
tekster og virksomheden, as acquiring knowledge about
aspects of business and society matters remain a focus area.
Reception and production of oral communication in an intercultural
context is another focus area. This includes knowledge of English
as a lingua franca.
The course aims to increase the student's knowledge of
professional oral and semi-oral communication in a context; and the
student will be introduced to basic theory and knowledge about oral
communication, listening strategies and the language of
international business. Getting an overview of content and
argumentation in videos/semi-oral texts is also part of the
course.
The student will learn how to give an oral summary of a video or
text in a specific communicative context .
Exercises and case work with oral presentations in English will be
part of the course.
