Bachelor Project:
Exam ECTS 15
Examination form Oral exam based on written product

In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and the individual oral performance.
Individual or group exam Individual oral exam based on written group product
Number of people in the group 2-5
Size of written product Please see text below
The maximum number of pages for an individually written BA project is 40 pages. For group projects the number of pages for a group of 2 students is 60 pages. For every additional group member an additional 10 pages is added to the maximum number of pages of the BA project . Thus, 1 student = 40 pages; 2 students = 60 pages; 3 students = 70 pages; 4 students = 80 pages; 5 students = more than 80 pages.

The project is to be written in English and the oral examination of the project is also conducted in English.
Assignment type Bachelor project
Written product to be submitted on specified date and time.
20 min. per student, including examiners' discussion of grade, and informing plus explaining the grade
Grading scale 7-step scale

The student’s spelling and writing skills are taken into consideration in the overall assessment of the examination performance, but the academic content is given the highest weight.

2. If the student has taken part in the writing of the BA project but fails the oral exam, the student signs up for the re-exam and is examined on the basis of the original BA project. However, the student can also choose to submit a new individually written BA project within a dead-line set by the study board.

3. If the student has been unable to write / take part in the writing of the BA project due to illness, the student can sit the re-exam if the student submits an individually written BA project within a dead-line set by the study board.

Description of the exam procedure
  • The BA project may be written individually or in a group of 2-5 students. The oral examination of the BA project is an individual exam.
Course content and structure
  • The aim of the BA project is to firmly establish the students' qualifications in the areas that the programme cover. With this aim in mind the students choose an area of interest among those they have been introduced to in the course of the programme within which they would like to write their BA project and formulate a research question. The research question should relate to the / one of those countries where the language that the student specialises in is spoken.
Teaching methods
In the context of the writing of the BA project the programme offers a number of lectures that address the most common problems that may arise in the process of project work.

Furthermore, the program offers supervision paying due attention to the language that the student specialises in and therefore writes in the project in. The number of hours allocated to supervision follows the CBS norm and is including time for preparation.
Feedback during the teaching period
Feedback is integrated into the project supervision.
