Examination form Oral exam based on written product

In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and the individual oral performance.
Individual or group exam Individual oral exam based on written group product
Number of people in the group 2-4
Size of written product Please see text below
The maximum number of pages for an individually written BA project is 40 pages. For group projects the number of pages for a group of 2 students is 60 pages. For every additional group member an additional 10 pages is added to the maximum number of pages of the BA project . Thus, 1 student = 40 pages; 2 students = 60 pages; 3 students = 70 pages; 4 students = 80 pages.
Assignment type Bachelor project

2. If the student has taken part in the writing of the BA project but fails the oral exam, the student signs up for the re-exam and is examined on the basis of the original BA project. However, the student can also choose to submit a new individually written BA project within a dead-line set by the study board.

3. If the student has been unable to write / take part in the writing of the BA project due to illness, the student can sit the re-exam if the student submits an individually written BA project within a dead-line set by the study board.

Description of the exam procedure

The BA project may be written individually or in a group of 2-4 students. The oral examination of the BA project is an individual exam.

Course content and structure

The aim of the BA project is to firmly establish the students' qualifications in the areas that the program covers. With this aim in mind the students choose an area of interest among those they have been introduced to in the course of the study program, within which they would like to write their BA project. The European aspects of the projects shall be explicitly addressed.

The Bachelor Project in European Business is the final and major independent piece of work of the programme. It offers students the chance to combine and integrate the knowledge that they have acquired during the course of the program and bring it into one written product, i.e. the bachelor project, and furthermore defend that project in an oral examination. While the project may be written individually or in groups of 2-4 people, the oral exam is individual. The project is graded with one grade that combines the written product and the oral exam.

The requirements for the Bachelor Project are of course more rigorous with regard to the definition of research question, methodology and integration of theory and data compared to the former exams since the bachelor exam concludes three years of study and is rewarded with the BA degree. Hence, emphasis is very much on the ability of the student to think across the different courses that make up the programme, bring them into a coherent project and engage with that project. The BSc project is described in detail in a project manual that students recieve and that addresses some of the questions that students typically ask in the context of the BSc Project.
