Course content and structure

This course provides students with conceptual frameworks and theoretical knowledge that are relevant for critically examining how innovation in service organizations  contributes to sustainable development.

The course takes the perspective of innovation as an approach to problem-solving, and focuses on challenges raised by social and environmental aspects relevant for business organizations. Such challenges have strategic, managerial, financial and political consequences that will be analyzed and discussed during the course. Aspects such as resource scarcity or the excessive amounts of wastes generated during the provision and consumption of products or services are analysed as opportunities for business innovation. Social innovation and entrepreneurship offer complementary perspectives for understanding corporate renewal and competitiveness.
