  • Present the exam topic in French using an appropriate vocabulary and structure.
  • Identify and discuss the main ideas of the chosen topic e.g. giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
  • Comprehend the questions posed during the examination and communicate in coherent French so that their responses flow and are intelligible.
  • Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity.

In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and the individual oral performance.

For the re-exam, either the same or a new synopsis MUST be submitted:
1. If the examiner finds that the level of the synopsis for the ordinary exam to be adequate, the same or a new synopsis MUST be submitted for re-exam.
2. If the examiner does NOT find the level of the synopsis for the ordinary to be adequate, a NEW synopsis MUST be submitted for the re-exam.
Description of the exam procedure

The exam topic must be chosen from the 4th semester syllabus.

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

The overall aim of this course is to give students the oral language skills in French needed to successfully engage and communicate with a range of different actors (teachers, employers, fellow students, etc.) in a variety of settings (academic, job related, etc.)  in particular within the following topic areas: Marketing, Organisation and Competitiveness and France's relationship to the European Union and Germany.

Description of the teaching methods
Class teaching involving lectures, student presentations, group work, exercises with oral and written proficiency training, and discussion. All teaching and reading will be in French.
Feedback during the teaching period
During the course, the students will receive feedback in class on their oral and written exercises. In addition, students will receive individual feedback on their presentations that the students are encouraged to do in preparation for the oral exam in language. Students are expected to attend all classes, and be prepared and ready to participate actively.
