Compulsory home assignments
Three compulsory assignments. Students must upload a brief summary (500-1000 words) in connection with course workshops. The assignments are installed as a way of ensuring that the student is 'on track' academically speaking. The students need to pass the mandatory assignments to take the exam of the course. If one or more assignments are not approved, the student will have to hand in a new and improved version. The students who fails to complete the compulsory assignments will not be able to take the ordinary exam.

Make-up exam/re-exam: Same examination form as the ordinary exam. If a student falls ill during the writing process and is unable to participate in the group exam, the individual student will be tasked with handing in a 10 page written exam assignment in response to a predefined research question. The paper will receive a grade based on the submitted material.
Description of the exam procedure

The exam must be handed in through Digital Exam. It must be 10 pages long (including footnotes/endnotes) and must discuss one defined methodological issue that is relevant to the study of digital management and business administration.

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

The course Research Methods aims to develop students' awareness of research methods in defining and discussing problems relevant to the field of Digital Management and Business Administration. It is crucial for students to learn how to create a research design and carry it through both for the execution of the bachelor project and for the student's further study path. 

 

The student is trained to formulate a research topic relevant to the field of Digital Management and Business Administration, design a research study, and justify the choice of techniques for data collection, analysis and interpretation. to this end, the student will be introduced to the basic tenets of quantitative, qualitative and digital methods. Students will also learn how to ensure research quality and communicate research results. 

 

The general aim of the course is:

 

The main objectives of this course are to enable you to:

  • Explore the theoretical underpinnings of research relevant to Digital Management and Business Administration 
  • Develop an understanding of the process and outputs of a literature review
  • Recognise the key characteristics of qualitative, quantitative and digital research methods
  • Examine methods of conducting and analysing quantitative and qualitative research
  • Understand what is involved in writing up and presenting research findings in an appropriate manner
  • Plan and design a coherent research project from start to finish
Description of the teaching methods
The course will comprise a lecture series and workshops. More information will be given at the beginning of the semester. Teaching is held during daytime. Detailed course-information is found on the Canvas page for the current semester.
Feedback during the teaching period
In the workshop session student groups will prepare feedback to each other's (mandatory) assignments (Peer feedback with Peergrade).
