Description of the teaching methods
This is a blended learning course based on a combination of pre-recorded lectures, on-line live feedback sessions and exercises in class on campus. The pre-recordered lectures focus on the introduction of relevant terminology, concepts and theories. They will offer overviews, examples, clarifications and elaborations of selected areas. Corresponding live-online feedback sessions will be related to the lecture material and teachers also address related questions by students. A series of exercises, taking place in class, provides the opportunity to deepen the understanding of new conceptual knowledge. Students actively work in groups and prepare assignments for review and/or presentation in class. The exercises develop competences to link theory with empirical observations, analytical rigor and the ability to participate in a scientific discourse. These exercises will prepare students for the envisaged examination format of this course.
Feedback during the teaching period
Students receive feedback on their assignments by the teachers during the exercises. In addition, we practise feedback from peers through direct responses to other students’ work either during the exercises or by using the online platform Peergrade. Teachers offer further feedback in response to questions by groups of students or individual students during online live feedback sessions. Please take advantage of the ‘office hours’ offered by the teachers, although these are not intended to be a substitute for participation in live online lectures and exercises on Campus.
