Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

The course may be divided into three main areas:

The course takes as its point of departure to establish a basic theoretical understanding of the roles and processes of procurement. This part discusses how procurement creates value and how procurement can be developed to become more strategic over time.

The second main area focuses on how procurement processes can be organised, which key skill sets and competencies are necessary, and how procurement processes and performance can be analysed.

The third main area is concerned with how to develop procurement strategies. Category management and strategic sourcing are introduced as concepts. The content and precondition of the procurement strategy is discussed in a theoretical and practical perspective.

Description of the teaching methods
The course is dialogue-based, and students should expect a high degree of involvement. Cases and exercises are discussed and analysed to illustrate the underlying theory.
