1) A student presentation. 2) A written group assignment. Please note, to attend the exam it is a precondition that the student has made an attempt in all mandatory activities unless it can be documented that lack of submission/participation was caused by illness or similar circumstances. In case the student fails one or both mandatory activities, he/she will be offered an extra home assignment that is to be handed in before the exam. |

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This course explores the challenges of global workplaces from managers' and employees' point of view. It brings up questions regarding what happens to the workplaces when organizations span geographical, linguistic, and cultural borders. The course focuses on management, human resource management, mobility, culture, identity and language aspects of the globalization. Whereas the main perspective will be managerial, employees' perspectives will also be introduced. Readings and lectures will present various theoretical perspectives on globalization and the workplace and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of these when applied to today’s organizations. |

Description of the teaching methods | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The course is designed to integrate analytical and practical aspects of global workplaces. The course will include lectures, active participation of students through case analysis, group and plenary discussions. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Feedback during the teaching period | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The students will receive oral feedback on their
compulsory presentations in class.
During case and class discussions they receive immediate feedback in class on their inputs. The students will receive written feedback on the compulsory group assignment and oral feedback on the oral exam. They are also welcome to the teachers' office hours for additional feedback on their performance. There is no need to book time in advance for this, students can just show up during office-hours. |
