Learning objectives |
The aim of the course is to enable students to
- account for the basics of intellectual property law ( with
focus on copyrights, trademarks and design law); unfair competition
law; contract law; data protection law; and personality
rights;
- select and apply the rules relevant to creative business
processes;
- Critically analyze legal problems in specific contexts in order
to constructively manage the legal risks
involved.

Course content, structure and pedagogical
approach |
The course will give an understanding of the basic principles
and structures of mainly private law, from a European perspective,
related to creative business processes in order to choose and
assess the appropriate legal structure for business transactions.
The course covers the various parts of intellectual property law
and related legal branches relevant to creative business processes
namely copyright law but also design law, trademark law, unfair
competition law, contract law and personality rights. The course
includes two voluntary home assignments.

Description of the teaching methods |
Teaching takes place mainly in large classes and
consists of a mixture of dialog-based lectures, presentations,
discussions and assignments/cases. The students are expected to
make group presentations on pre-assigned case law in order to
encourage critical thinking and facilitate constructive
collaborations. |
Feedback during the teaching period |
Individual written feedback is provided to all
students who attempt the ’mock exam’ held two weeks prior to the
end of the course. Written feedback is provided on all group
written assignments during the teaching period. |
