Learning objectives |
- Gain practical experience relevant to the IBP competency
profile by working for a public or private, profit or non-profit
organization.
- Use the analytical skills learned in the BSc. IBP programme to
perform the tasks assigned to the student, in a way that creates
value for the host organization.
- Develop a balanced, critical and reflexive understanding of the
host organization and its strategic positioning in the social,
economic and institutional environment.
- Develop and address a research question based on a real
challenge of the host organization. The research question should
focus on the relationship between business and politics in an
international environment.
- Address the research question and analyze the empirical
evidence by drawing upon the theoretical literature covered by the
IBP programme.
- Develop an analysis of the empirical evidence using
methodologies taught in the IBP programme.
- Develop a well-reasoned conclusion and recommendation for the
host organization, based on the analysis of original data collected
through interviews and other sources within the host organization
or outside of it.
- Ensure a logical and methodological coherence between the
research question, analysis and conclusion.

Oral exam based on written product
In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product
must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The
grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and
the individual oral performance, see also the rules about
examination forms in the programme regulations. |

Description of the exam
procedure
Internships require pre-approval by an IBP faculty supervisor
and the Study Board prior to the start of the internship. Before
applying students are asked to read the IBP course description and
the internship page on MyCBS carefully.
A 30 ECTS internship requires a minimum of 750 hours (20
weeks) documented employment.
Please note that it's only possible to take
one internship. Students should therefore decide
whether it should be for 7.5, 15 or 30
ECTS.

Course content, structure and pedagogical
approach |
The eligibility of proposed internships is evaluated by the
supervisor and the Study Board on the basis of two criteria:

The relevance of the host organization.
In line with the focus of the study program, the activities of
the host organization must be related to one or more of the IBP
core areas. The core areas of the IBP programs are politics,
business and management and economics.
2.The relevance of the internship position.
The student’s responsibilities during the internship should be
related to the IBP competency profile. The application for
pre-approval should show how the internship will address the
competency profile and provide a basis for a report that will meet
learning objectives listed below.

Report and research paper supervision should
always be a two-way process. Students are encouraged to seek
feedback on their work by maintaining contact with their supervisor
on a regular basis and preparing in advance for supervision
sessions by drawing up an agenda listing questions or issues for
discussion. |
