Oral presentations etc.
All students have to participate in one oral group presentation during the semester. The presentations will include a summary of selected literature and some further reflections on a given topic. More information about the student presentations will be given at the beginning of the semester.

IMPORTANT: The compulsory activity must be approved in order to register for the ordinary exam.

If the student makes an attempt to pass the activity, but the activity is not approved, or the student is ill, a replacement activity must be approved to be able to attend the ordinary exam.

If the student does not attempt to pass the compulsory activity, the student will not be allowed to take part in a replacement assignment and cannot attend the ordinary exam or the re-exam.

Description of the exam procedure

The exam takes the form of an individual research paper based on a research question of own choice. No pre-requisite is necessary, but attendance at all lectures and active participation in teaching sessions is strongly recommended.

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

The purpose of this course is to present, discuss, and reflect on the role of technology in organizations, in terms of both organizing work and shaping organizational forms. The course focuses in particular on the consequences of digital technologies for existing organizations and on the possibilities offered by digital technologies for new forms of working and organizing. It takes its departure point in classical and contemporary organization theory, with a special focus on technology in organizations, and investigates how digital technologies have transformed organizational features and organizing processes.
The course follows three main paths: First, it presents the basic features of organization, according to classical and contemporary organization theory; secondly, it takes the students onto a journey of the progressive transformations of organizations and organizing processes by digital technologies; finally, it explores cases of organizations that have been deeply transformed by digital technologies.

Description of the teaching methods
The course is based on lectures in combination with classroom teaching, including discussions, case work, student presentations, as well as oral and written assignments.
Feedback during the teaching period
Besides ongoing feedback during lectures, there will be an opportunity for peer feedback towards the end of the course. Here, students will be reviewing each other's texts and providing feedback in collaboration with the teacher.
