Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

This course provides students with knowledge of the interlinkages between economic globalization, geopolitics and digitalisation. It is an introduction to business and industry globalisation in the context of geopolitical change. The course is designed to equip students to navigate the complex intersection of global production networks, geopolitical shifts, and digital transformation. Students will critically evaluate theoretical frameworks surrounding globalization to understand how geopolitics and macroeconomic forces reshape industrial landscapes. The course structure emphasizes both the assessment of business resilience and risk in different industries within emerging geopolitical landscapes, and rigorous analysis of related corporate sustainability impacts. Students will formulate strategic digital responses, developing research-based recommendations to mitigate negative outcomes and drive societal value. The themes taught are illustrated by selected industries, businesses and places.
