This course consists of a group project and classes addressing issues typically encountered in healthcare innovation projects, whether in hospitals, companies, start-ups, or other healthcare provider organizations. Examples of these issues include needs analysis, development of value propositions, innovation design, markets and pricing of medical products, and organizational implementation of innovation. Organised into groups, students focus on a specific innovation challenge within a particular company or healthcare provider organization. The project group carries out fieldwork with the host organization to develop a well-defined problem statement, collect data, and present and discuss solutions. This type of project requires a substantial effort from all group members, particularly in coordinating and collaborating with the host organization during normal working hours. Groups that are unable to meet the requirements of collaborating with a host organization can instead complete a project based on literature and existing cases in healthcare innovation. These projects require the same workload as hosted projects but offer students greater flexibility in carrying out their work. |
