The course presents and discusses central thinkers in the history of the social sciences, political theory, and ideology. It covers normative and analytical or theoretical ideas about individuals, society, economy, government, and the state from antiquity to the contemporary world. Focus is on the origins of contemporary political ideas and on the trajectories of the specialized modern social sciences with a special emphasis on the evolution of, and the disciplinary divisions between, sociology, political economy, economics and political science. | |||||
