The exam is an internal exam and consists in writing a scientific paper. The article can be made individually or by 2 students together. If written in groups cf. § 27, S. (3) in the General Degree Regulation. As each student receives an individual grade, each group member must clearly identify the exam sections he/she has authored.. The evaluation is made by one teacher alone cf. General Degree Regulations § 25, S. (1).
For the article, the following provisions apply: Notice of participation individually or in groups of 2 students must be made according to the date specified among important deadlines. The students will be informed of the subject of the article subsequently (by lot). In form and content, the article must correspond to the requirements of scientific periodicals like e.g. "Strategic Management Journal" or "Scandinavian Journal of Management". (Max. 10 A4 pages). Each student/group will have an assigned advisor. The regular exam will be held in December 2010. The final due date for the submission of the article (in 4 copies) will be announced by the secretariat
The make-up/re-exam takes place in February 2011. The make-up/re-exam scientific paper can be written individually or in groups (provided that other students are taking the make-up/re-exam)

Examination
|
The exam consists in writing a scientific paper. The topic for the scientific paper will reflect a combination of topics addressed in the course. The topics are assigned at random. The papers can be done individually or in groups of two. However, if written in groups it is a requirement that the different parts of the paper are individualized, so it clearly shows who has written which part in order to facilitate the possibility of individual grading. The examination is internal.

Course Content
|
Strategic management is an eclectic discipline, applying ideas from many different research traditions and disciplines. This interdisciplinary approach reflects the complexities that underpin strategic thinking in theory and in practice alike. The course aims to develop an understanding of that complexity and how it can be handled in different strategic decision situations. Handling the strategy development process is not accomplished through a mechanical application of management tools but constitutes an intellectual analysis combining different – and often paradoxical – perceptions. Therefore, this course does not build on a single paradigm or research tradition, but explores different strategy making modes in the analysis of contemporary strategy issues.
During this course various perspectives within the strategic management field will be adopted in group presentations and discussions of relevant case examples to illustrate the underlying theoretical perspectives in practice. |
