Learning Objectives
The student should be able to:
  • analyze an intercultural conflict in a working group involving management and employees in an organisation
  • critically evaluate the best well-known theories and their relevance for the ongoing globalization proces
  • make a reasoned choice of overall approches and concrete models and concepts for the analysis of a given case
  • analyze the case by drawing on the chosen models and concepts
  • identify and explain implications of culture in the communication involved in the case
  • evaluate the communicative process and make proposals for the parties’ linguistic and communicative strategy as vidence of transcultural competence
  • formulate theoretical and analytic points clearly and correctly while observing academici conventions to. style, argumentation, references, etc.

Course Content

The overall objective ofr the course is to give the student knowledge and understanding of how messages are perceived different depending on the cultural context of the communication. The other objective is that the student becomes able to apply his or he intercultural understanding in communicating.

The objectives are achieved through the study of relevant modern literature, examples of pratice and cases.

Teaching Methods
The teaching methods are lectures, class teaching, and written home assignments. The focus in class teaching is on training based on case learning.
