Course content | |||||||||||||||||
Content of a typical introductory undergraduate statistics course as taught in Canada or the USA. The main topics include: Data collection; Numerical and graphical representation of data; Introduction to probability, including Bayes’ Theorem; Binomial and Normal probability distributions; Sampling Distributions and the Central Limit Theorem; Confidence interval estimation of population means and proportions; Hypothesis testing for populations means and proportions; Introduction to simple linear regression. The course’s development of personal competences: Students will acquire skills in analyzing data and understanding relationships between variables; they will be required to do homework from assigned problem sets designed to give them experience in solving real-world business oriented problems; analysis of real data sets will prepare students to apply statistical concepts in business and economics. |
