The course provides the students with the theoretical and conceptual frameworks to discuss, analyze and manage cultural entrepreneurship. It provides competences to formulate and develop entrepreneurial processes and to apply these to empirical cases within the field of arts and culture. The course introduces three approaches to cultural entrepreneurship: 1) cultural entrepreneurship as managerially driven endeavors to change and renew cultural institutions. 2) cultural entrepreneurship as politically and economically driven endeavors to initiate and support urban and regional development. 3) cultural entrepreneurship as socially driven endeavors to advocate community identity and increase diversity in artistic and cultural expressions. The course links the three approaches to globalization with a specific focus on new social media and technologies, cultural and identity studies, and the opportunities offered by a global economy. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
