Learning objectives |
After having followed the course the
students should be able to:
- Describe, classify, and explain basic theoretical models of
organization (including theories on the social and physical
structure of organizations; power, cultural, and technological
aspects of organizations, and organizational environment).
- Formulate a simple research question relating to a particular
organization applying relevant theories and concepts from the
curriculum
- Select relevant data to produce justified answers to the
research question relating such data to choice theory and
concepts.

Course content and
structure |
This course provides the students
with an understanding of basic organization theory; the theory on
how behaviour, conceptualizations, and conditions for action are
shaped in organizations. Students will learn to apply basic
theoretical tools and conceptual models in analyzing the phenomena
of the organization, management, and strategy from a sociological
perspective. |
Teaching methods |
Lectures and group discussions. Minor
cases will be presented by groups for plenary
discussions. |
