| Learning objectives |
The learning objectives of this course are to
continuously develop competences in Chinese speaking, writing and
reading.
The students must demonstrate the ability to:
- Read about specific topics concerning culture, society and
economy.
- Write well-structured compositions with consistent language use
regarding formality and style.
- Write about a topic using the appropriate
vocabulary.

procedure
The exam consists of duly submitting three compulsory written
assignments during the Fall semester. In order to pass Chinese 3,
all assignments must be graded as "pass" by the
instructor. Dates and formats will be announced in the syllabus in
the beginning of the Fall semester which is available on
LEARN. |

| Course content and structure |
|
The focus of teaching is to enable the students to read, write
and communicate in intermediate Chinese on socioeconomic topics.
The overall aim of the course is textual comprehension, vocabulary
building and written/oral production.

| Teaching methods |
Teaching methods are a mix of lectures and group
work guided by cooperative learning principles that engage each
student to a maximum extent.
The languages of instruction are Chinese and English.
Active involvement in class discussions and activities is expected
of all participants, so students should come to class prepared to
contribute. We encourage the students to be active outside the
classroom in looking for opportunities to prepare for classes and
practice their language skills. |
