Course content and structure | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
This course critically examines aspects of
equality and inequality in all areas of life but particularly in
the workplace. Discrimination happens in many aspects of our life
and work. Certain forms of discrimination may be deemed to be
acceptable, but others are not, and been made unlawful. Differences
between people, and our perceptions of the significance of these
differences, have important personal, organisational and social
implications. This course provides an opportunity to consider the
ethical, behavioural and institutional processes underpinning the
need to ‘mange diversity’ and the effectiveness of strategies
deployed to make the workplace more ‘equal’. Topics addressed
include for example:

The course will consist of lectures, case discussions and workshops. Active preparation and participation are expected from the students. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

Develop written work that relies upon theory and
evidence, offer a reasoned and critical argument in classes,
participate in group discussion and debates and employ both
quantitative and qualitative evidence in an argument.
Schedule: wednesday 13.30-16.05, week 36-43 and Friday 11.40-14.25, week 36-43. Changes in schedule may occur. |
