Learning objectives |
Through the work on the thesis the student should
develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of the topic studied
and the ability to independently formulate a question for analysis
in the area of international business and politics and to carry out
the analysis in accordance with accepted academic standards. The
analysis must be grounded in relevant theories and data from the
social sciences, it must apply relevant methodologies, and it must
show a critical awareness of the methodological and theoretical
choices involved and of relevant problems in the philosophy of
science. |

Oral exam based on written product
In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product
must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The
grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and
the individual oral performance. |

(1) The subject of the thesis has to be a
specified issue relating to international business and politics.
(2) Topic delimitation must be approved by the Programme Director
prior to receiving guidance. At the same time, a deadline for
submission must be set. Also see Guidelines for submission dates
concerning Thesis at CBS.
(3) The thesis must be of a maximum of 80 standard pages for one
student and 120 standard pages for two students. There is no set
minimum requirement.
4) A 1-2 pages abstract must be appended to the thesis. The
abstract may be written in English, Danish, Swedish or Norwegian.
5) The examination is individual and oral (30 minutes), based on
the written thesis. It takes the form of a dialogue between the
student and examiners.
6) One grade according to the 7 point grading scale is given,
reflecting an overall evaluation of the written thesis, the
abstract and the oral performance.
(7) The basis of assessment includes the student's spelling and
formulating skills. The thesis content carries the main weight.
(8) The thesis may be written individually or by two students
together. In special cases, the Study Board may sanction that more
than two students write a thesis together. For a thesis written by
two or more students, the requirements for its scope are increased
proportionately.
(9) The deadline for handing in the Master's thesis is 6 months
from the date on which the Programme Director approves the thesis
title and advisor, also se Guidelines for submission dates
concerning Thesis’s at CBS. |
