  • to gain practical experience relevant to the IBP program's competence profile by working for a public or private, profit or non-profit organization
  • to draw upon theoretical insights and perspectives from the IBP curriculum so as to analyze critically a problem or issue derived from this experience
  • to arrive, on the basis of the analysis, at a set of feasible recommendations that address the given problem

Students can only take up to 30 ECTS credits in internships.

Internships need pre-approval by an IBP faculty supervisor approved by the Study Board. Internships need to be pre-approved prior to the start of the internship.

Before applying students are requested to read the Internship Manual posted on e-campus.
Size of written product Max. 40 pages
The grade of a 30 ECTS internship carries a weight of 25% for a student’s final average grade.

Exam period Summer Term and Winter Term, The IBP Study Board has not set a specific hand-in deadline but advices students to hand in within the first month of completing the internship.

Course content and structure
The eligibility of proposed internships is evaluated by the supervisor on the basis of two criteria:
  1. The relevance of the host organization.
In line with the focus of the study program, the activities of the host organization must be related to one of the IBP core areas. The core areas of the IBP programs are politics, business and management, economics and law.

  1. The relevance of the internship position.
The second requirement is that the student’s responsibilities during the internship must be related to the IBP competence profile. The description of tasks and responsibilities must be clear stated in the internship application.
