Course content and
structure |
This course introduces the European integration process, with a
particular focus on the interactions between European institutional
changes and corporate strategies.
The course is divided into two parts. In the first part, the
students will learn the fundamentals of corporate strategy from the
national to the global level, and will learn how to identify and
analyze the opportunities and threats posed by European market
integration. In the second part of the course, the students will be
introduced to general theories of economic integration, to the
specific development trajectory of the European single market, and
to EU institutional decision-making processes. We will particularly
focus on corporate responses to EU institutional changes within
four key internationalized sectors: banking, energy, civil
aviation, and telecommunications.
Students will have the opportunity to study a company that is
affected by and responding to European integration. Students will
work in groups and choose a Danish or North European company within
one of the four sectors to study.
|
Teaching methods |
The course is based on a combination
of lectures, case-based guest lectures, written assignments, and
student presentations. The course coordinators have studied the
corporate consequences of economic integration and published
several articles in international journals concerning this topic.
The classes will also include guest lectures from Danish and
international researchers. |
