Learning objectives |
To achieve the grade 12, students
should meet the following learning objectives with no or only minor
mistakes or errors: On completion of this course, the student
should have acquired: 1) basic knowledge about central questions
and arguments in classical social theory; 2) skills to identify the
historical, political, economical and social contexts that the
theories refer to, and the student should be able to:
- account for the main theoretical positions covered in the
curriculum
- identify essential similarities and differences between these
theoretical positions,
- place these theoretical positions and concepts in a historical
and societal context, and
- reflect about the relevance of these theoretical positions with
regard to analysing and understanding social
reality.

The courses BA-BSOCO1010U The Art and
Practices of Business Accounting, BA-BSOCO1011U Fundamentals of
Social Theory, BA-BSOCO1012U Introduction to Economic Sociology,
and BA-BSOCO1013U Managerial Economics I have one intergrated exam.
You can only participate in BA-BSOCO1011U Fundamentals of Social
Theory if you also register for the other courses: BA-BSOCO1010U
The Art and Practices of Business Accounting, BA-BSOCO1012U
Introduction to Economic Sociology, and BA-BSOCO1013U Managerial

Examination |
The exam in the subject consists of five parts:
Interdisciplinary examination in social theory, economic
sociology, managerial economics and accounting: | Sub exam weight | 60% | Examination form | Oral exam based on written product
In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product
must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The
grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and

from each of the four courses, each giving a weight of 10% in the
final grade (in total 40% of the final grade) and the oral exam
based on a written product weighing 60% of the final grade grade.
The course specific papers test the student's achievement of
the learning objectives (until the time in the course where the
papers are to be submitted). The oral exam based on a written
product tests 1) the achievement of the learning objectives of all
courses, as well as, 2) the student's ability to related the
content of the four different courses to each other, and 3) the
student's ability to reflect on his or her learning process

exam paper and the oral performance should submit a revised exam

procedure
The primary purpose of the 1st semester exam, which is an oral
exam based on an exam paper, is to make the student adopt an
integrative approach to the four 1st semester courses, as opposed
to only perceiving the individual courses from their own
disciplinary point of view. Consequently, the main focus at the
oral exam is the integration of several academic disciplines and
sets of learning objectives.
The secondary purpose of the exam is to make the student reflect
about his/her own learning process, the result of the knowledge and
skills acquired from participating in class and working on
assignments throughout the 1st semester.
Prior to the oral exam the student mustsubmit an individual 5-page
interdisciplinary exam assignment based on one or more
questions formulated by the examiners. - The oral examination is based on the exam paper, which
must relate selected aspects of the four courses to each
other.
- The oral examination is an individual examination of 30
minutes, including the examiners’ discussion and awarding of the
grade. The grade awarded must reflect an overall assessment of
the papers in the exam portfolio and the performance at the oral
examination.
- The examination is internal, and assessment is carried out by
two internal examiners: teachers from two of the four first
semester courses.

four courses in the first semester and their learning objectives.

Course content and
structure |
Aim: To introduce the student to fundamental questions and key
concepts in social theory, from the classics onwards. There will be
two assignments during the semester: one written in groups of max.
10 pages (ungraded) for which feedback is offered, and one
individual paper of max. 5 pages, which is graded and will count
towards 10% of the final grade of the interdisciplinary
exam.
