Learning objectives
To achieve the grade 12, students should meet the following learning objectives with no or only minor mistakes or errors:
  • To present and explain the main concepts and theories from the course related to service development and design.
  • To critically examine and explain the benefits and limitations of concepts and theories included in the course.
  • To identify and explain the benefits and challenges of service development in service organizations.
  • To identify and apply relevant theoretical perspectives from the course content, to selected cases of service organizations.
  • To discuss the validity, reliability and scope of generalization of conclusions drawn on the basis of an analysis

Examination form Oral exam based on written product

In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and the individual oral performance.

The oral exam is individual.
Size of written product Max. 20 pages
The project size should be:
• 1 student: max.10 standard pages
• 2 students: max.15 standard pages
• 3 students: max. 20 standard pages

Re-examination:
If the student has participated in the written group project for the ordinary exam, but has been ill at the time of the oral exam, the re-examination is conducted on the basis of the group project that has already been handed in.

If the student has participated in the written group project for the ordinary exam, but not passed the oral exam, the re-exam is normally conducted on the basis of the project that has already been handed in. However, the student may choose to hand in a new, individual project within a specified time.

NB! The student must clearly state at the frontpage of the project, if the product has been REVISED, or if the student has chosen to hand in a NEW PROJECT.

If the student has not participated in the written group project due to illness, the student may participate in the oral re-examination, if the student hands in an individual project within a specified time.

The student cannot claim supervision hours in connection with the retake/ reexam.
Description of the exam procedure

The final exam is a group project which Is also ending 2nd year.
The project will be followed by an individual 20 minutes oral exam which takes its point of departure in the group project but also to relations to theory and models from the syllabus. The individual assessment is based on a combined evaluation of the written group project and the individual oral exam
Assessment. The student’s linguistic abilities may be included in the evaluation of the project. This evaluation is an overall evaluation of the academic content including the student’s ability to spell and write, taking into account that the academic content must be given preference. The individual assessment is based on a combined evaluation of the written group project and the individual oral exam.

Course content and structure

This course provides students with the competence required to understand innovation processes and manage change processes in service organizations. Through a series of lectures and real-life cases, the course will provide students with theoretical knowledge required to identify innovation opportunities, as well as the rigorous practice of step-by-step process of designing new services. The course will explore and discuss the process of user-driven innovation, design and co-creation as inputs to the innovation process. In addition to learning new skills, students will be expected to incorporate in their work, knowledge from previous courses, such as service economics, marketing and management.

Teaching methods
The teaching sessions will include lectures and class discussions. The sessions have been designed to facilitate student participation by including class activities and group work.

The Study Board each year publishes the 2nd Year Project Guidelines, which supplements the Program Regulations and serves as a teaching aid for the Project. The Manual provides detailed information about Project requirements and deadlines, as well as practical suggestions and advice regarding the Project experience and proper use of a Project Adviser. - The Project Guidelines will be available at the BSc SEM e-campus (in the menu under the relevant exam semester)
