Learning objectives
To achieve the grade 12, students should meet the following learning objectives with no or only minor mistakes or errors: The objective of the course is to provide the students with a competence in the application of the theories, models and tools taught at the program. The students are encouraged to carry out case studies to analyse and reflect upon the various accounting issues in practice, and develop analytical, design and implementation competencies.
At the exam the students must be able to:
Formulate relevant accounting problems.
Apply theories to an empirical setting.
Solve real practical issues.
Show an ability to choose relevant theories.
Critically reflect upon accounting practices.

In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and the individual oral performance.

Description of the exam procedure

The project is conducted in groups over a period of 1 month with 3-5 students per group. The report must not exceed the allowed number of standard pages (10 pages per student) excluding front page and appendix. Individual oral examination. The duration of the individual oral exam is 20 minutes (including assessment). Students will be evaluated on the basis of the project and the oral exam. Each group will receive 5 hours of supervision. The deadline for handing in the project is in May and the date will be announced by the program administrator. The oral exam will take place in June. Make-up/ re-exam will take place in August. If the student was ill during the exam period a new project must be handed in to a new deadline in August announced by the programme secretary. If the student did not pass the regular exam, a new project must be handed in to a new deadline in August announced by the programme secretary. The make-up/re-exam report can be written individually or in groups (provided that other students are taking the make-up/re-exam)

Course content and structure

The student should formulate relevant accounting problems and use theories to solve these problems

Teaching methods
The aim of the course is to train the students in the use of the different theories and models used in the concentration. The course provides an opportunity to apply the theoretical foundation in a real life setting, and develop their analytical, design and implementation competencies.
Additionally, it is sought to train the student in the application of theory through the writing process.

Development of individual and social skills (competencies)
Writing and cooperative skills are developed through teamwork and the writing process.

This course is a foundation course and complementary to all courses taught in the first year of the ASC concentration.
