Course content and structure | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Organizations have traditionally been organized based on business functions rather than business processes. However, one of the most important paradigm shifts of modern management is that businesses no longer compete as autonomous entities, but rather as supply chains, and an underlying principle of supply chain management is to establish control of end-to-end processes. Thus, successful supply chain management requires the cross-functional and cross-organizational integration of business processes. Moreover, to meet the challenges of a turbulent business environment, supply chain managers need to be able to constantly reengineer their processes, especially when it comes to the application of information technology. Therefore, this course will highlight the importance of “process thinking” and “process re-thinking” across supply chains.
Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN), as an international standard, and modeling tools will be used to understand business procedures in a graphical notation and to communicate these procedures in a standard manner. The course will apply theoretical knowledge on process reengineering to typical supply chain processes and also cover foundations of change management to implement process changes.
It is planned that, as part of the course, the SVP Sourcing of the Adidas Group and the CEO of 4flow will share their experiences. |
