Course content and structure | |||||||||||||||||||||||
This module provides an introduction to shipping economics and combines a historical introduction to shipping with discussions of current issues shaping the future of the shipping industry. It aims at giving a broad overview of the various shipping segments, shipbuilding and other essential areas of maritime activity such as insurance, broking, classification, financing.

Teaching methods | |||||||||||||||||||||||
The module will combine lectures, discussions, group work and case presentations. Reading material will be provided to the participants in beforehand for preparation for the module. Participants will be encouraged to think of a relevant work-related project where they can apply the theory they have learned throughout the module in order to translate theoretical learning into practice. |
