Learning objectives |
To achieve the grade 12, students
should meet the following learning objectives with no or only minor
mistakes or errors:
- Describe and apply the concepts and theories presented
throughout the course both theoretically and practically, such as
within a case.
- Analyze a change related issue by identifying key problem
areas, and select and apply appropriate management tools to suggest
plausible solutions.
- Apply relevant concepts and theories to analyze a particular
change issue within a global organization.
- Demonstrate the ability to critically discuss key concepts in
relation to a given change initiative.
- Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate qualitative research
techniques to examine a change issue.

There are four different scenaria
for the re-exam:
1) if a student is absent from the oral exam due to documented
illness but has been part of handing in the report s/he does not
have to submitt a new project report, but MUST hand in the same
project report AGAIN for the re-exam.
2) if an individual student fails the oral exam she/he does not
have to submitt a new project report, but MUST hand in the same
project report AGAIN for the re-exam.
3) if a whole group fails they must hand in a revised report for
the re-take.
4) If you haven't handed in anything for the ordinary exam. You
will hand in a project report for the
re-exam.

Course content and
structure |
Managing change in global organizations is the core theme within
this course, which aims at providing a broad understanding of the
key challenges organizations have to grapple with when implementing
change. Areas to be explored during the course, but not limited to,
may include: leadership and change in, cultural change programs,
power and politics, mergers & acquisitions, and group
dynamics.
The aims of the course are:
- To provide students with a critical understanding of theory and
practice in relation to change management within global
organizations;
- To develop an appreciation of the major current themes and
debates in the field of change management;
- To give student an understanding of the main concepts and
models that underpin change management;
- To assess the cultural and political factors that shape change
initiatives in global organizations; and,
- To assess the issues associated with the design and
implementation of change initiatives, and their impact on
employees.
- To provide students with an understanding of qualitative
research methods to examine change in a global
context.

case discussion and workshops. Active preparation and participation
are expected from the students. |
