| Learning objectives |
To achieve the grade 12, students
should meet the following learning objectives with no or only minor
mistakes or errors:
- Identify and discuss recent developments in global trade
impacting global transportation and maritime logistics
management
- Explain concepts, theories, models and frameworks in order to
analyse sourcing and supply management practices and their relation
to the organisation and the supply chain
- Identify and contrast the different strategies that are
applicable in the design of supply chains
- Apply central parts of the module material to a practical
logistics or supply chain management problem
- Explore and resolve supply chain management issues and
communicate with others in the field, thereby contributing to the
development of good practice

| Course content and
structure |
|
This module discusses the main principles of logistics and
supply chain management and the implications for shipping. The
module addresses the importance of a customer orientation as well
as the impact of changing macro trends creating extreme volatility
in market demand. The participants will gain an understanding of
the importance of managing the end-to-end supply chain.

| Teaching methods |
| The module will combine lectures,
discussions, group work and case presentations. Reading material
will be provided to the participants in beforehand for preparation
for the module. Participants will be encouraged to think of a
relevant work-related project where they can apply the theory they
have learned throughout the module in order to translate
theoretical learning into practice. |
