Course content and structure

Progression through the two internships
The two internships will train the student in the role of "reflective interns". This means that on one hand they will particpate in the busienss related issues and on the other hand reflects upon the concrete organizational, professional, theoretic and personal opportunities and conditions for the problem solving. The internships will provide the students with a strong professional foundation and network upon which they can build their further carrier and personal development.

The course of internship consists of three internshps preferably in the same company, which will permit the students to gradually develop an understanding of the different aspects of the shipping company. Each internship will have a main focus, which will ensure a progressivity during both internships.

Internship II:  Strategic competences

The second internship is where the student is preparing for a potential entrance in the shipping company as an employee. The student must combine the knowledge and skills from prior internship in a department of choice, where the student has the most interest and talent. The student will work in closer collaboration with the managers but also demonstrate the capability of work independently and responsible. Applying and argumenting for theories is the foundation which in the third internship must permit the student to withdraw conclusions and results for decision-making. The analytical competencies will be challenged and improved in a way that requires a reciprocal action between emperics, theories and individual interpretations. The student must be able to show critical sense towards both facts, theories, human resources and individual point of views. The student must interact with the employess and keep the objectives of the company in mind in order to structure each assignment to keep in line with the strategies of the company.

The students will develop some specialized skills which permit more responsibility and challenging assignments. The student must participate in a more proactive way in the daily life and be able to argument for selection of theories, emperics, methods, conclusion and recommendation in assignments. To have a clear structure for an analysis and understanding of the strength and weaknesses is a skill the student will acquire during this internship.
