Learning objectives
To achieve the grade 12, students should meet the following learning objectives with no or only minor mistakes or errors: Raise participants’ individual awareness about gender and diversity and their own cultural values and biases that may influence their behaviour and interactions in organisations.
  • Deepen participants’ understanding of social and organisational mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion.
  • Enhance participants’ readiness, awareness, and skills in order that they may take on roles as leaders and as change agents, encourage respectful behaviour and inclusivity, and effectively manage gender and diversity.
  • Improve participants’ skills in organisational analysis, problem solving, and communicating ideas to improve gender and diversity management practices in a real organisational setting.
  • Increase participants’ skills in working as members of a team.

Students who due to illness or other excused absence cannot participate in the business-case presentation shall instead individually hand in a two pages executive summary of the project written with the case company as audience.
Description of the exam procedure

The exam is in form of a live-case group work. The case companies will present the case Monday, the students will work in groups to solve the case during the week, and then present their solutions to the case companies Friday. The presentation is compulsory.

Each student has to write an individual case study report of 5 pages.

 

Individual exam: 

  • Written case study report (a 5-page report of the case study)

 

Compulsory activity:

  • Business case presentation.

 
Course content and structure

Gender and Diversity Management: Towards Inclusive Organisations provides an introductory immersion to the field of gender and diversity management through both academic literature and practice. The seminar responds to recent demographic changes and anticipates future cultural shifts that demand managers who are gender and diversity sensitive, internationally focused, and capable of dealing with complexity. Through lectures, case study discussions, company presentations, independent study, and group assignments including a real gender and diversity business case project, students will learn about how diversity, with its multiple dimensions such as gender, race/ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, disability, and religion/belief, is a process and resource to be leveraged to develop a competitive organisation or business.

Lecturing, exercises, case teaching, discussions.
Feedback during the teaching period
The students will get feedback during class discussions and on their project work during scheduled supervised business case team work. They will get feedback after their course project.
