Course prerequisites | ||||||||||||||||||||||
This is not an introductory course to
international political economy, but while not a formal
requirement, successful participation requires a foundation in this
discipline. Students without a foundation in IPE similar to what is
provided by the IBP bachelor program are strongly recommended to
read, before course start, at minimum a textbook in IPE, such as
for instance:
• O’Brien, Robert and Williams, Marc 2013. Global Political Economy. Evolution and Dynamics. Fourth Edition, Houndmills: Palgrave Macmillan. |

Course content and structure | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Course content The course theme is how interactions between businesses, national and international political institutions, and non-governmental organizations shape or impact the governance of international business. It is an advanced and specialized course in international political economy that focuses on the research frontier in selected topics within the course theme, emphasizing both theoretical debates and innovations, and research-based empirical results. The purpose is to provide an in-depth understanding of these theoretical and empirical debates and research results and through this to provide a solid foundation for engaging in independent research projects in the field.
