Course content and structure

This course offers a detailed introduction to international economics, including international trade and international finance topics. In the international trade part of the course, we study several trade theories, which explain why international trade takes place, what are the benefits of international trade, and in what patterns countries trade with each other. We also study trade policy tools and their implications for market equilibrium and social welfare, both theoretically and by analysing real-world case studies. In the international finance part of the course, we study the balance of payments, discuss intertemporal trade and what underlies trade deficits.
