Course content and structure |
This course explores the fundamental concepts, analyses and
strategies needed to found an entrepreneurial venture. Its emphasis
is the acquisition and application of the analytical framework,
principles and strategies critical for new venture creation. Thus,
this course offers a special focus on strategic analysis and
formulation. The course is taught in a theory-case combined manner.
It mainly relies on classic and recent entrepreneurship research,
combined with real-life evidence provided by cases. Class sessions
consist of lectures and case discussions. The lectures provide
theoretical frameworks for thinking about specific topics based on
assigned reading materials. The case sessions offer an opportunity
to apply theories to the analysis of a specific business situation
for the selected topic. This course will be most valuable (and
enjoyable) if all students are engaged and participating in a
productive manner.
This course is suitable for students interested in founding or
working in start-ups, as well as in related careers in consulting
and venture investing. The materials covered are intended to be
accessible and comprehensible to all master students across
different programs at CBS.
