Be able to analyze how corporate decisions are influenced by agency problems and how they can be solved and:
  • Analyze what the funding options are and what the best option may be

Course prerequisites
The student must attend both courses: "Modern Finance and Corporate Finance" (KAN-CPHIV1801U) and "Historical Foundations of Financial Institutions and Markets" (KAN-CPHIV1803U).

The student must have qualifications in corporate finance and statistics equivalent to the B.Sc. in Business Administration and Philosophy and qualifications in behavioral economics equivalent to the M.Sc. in Business Administration and Philosophy.

In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and the individual oral performance.

Description of the exam procedure

The exam consists of a written group assignment, which will be defended at an oral exam. The topic of the paper must be chosen and accepted during the first half of the first quarter.

 

This exam is a joint exam in the two courses 'Modern Finance and Corporate Finance" and "Historical Foundations of Financial Institutions and Markets". The written assignment and the oral exam will test the students in the course syllabus for each of the two courses as well as in their ability to combine elements from the two courses. Teaching faculty from each course will be present at the oral exam. The oral exam can focus on practical, empirical, conceptual, analytical and/or theorical topics. The grade will reflect the student's performace in both courses, with equal weight being given to each course.
 
Please note that the exam constitutes one of two exams in the minor in 'Financial Decision-Making in a Social Context: History, Sociology, Behavioral Finance and Corporate Finance'.

Historical Foundations of Financial Institutions and Markets provides a historical and institutional perspective on the development of financial markets and financial institutions internationally and in Denmark. The historical focus enables students to critically understand and discuss the development and dynamics of the financial industry, including individual financial firms in their historical context. The course also considers financial instability and how perceptions of the past constrain strategies and decisions in the present. The course is discussion and case-based. See website:
